Specific Need

To provide homebound seniors with hot nutritious meals that otherwise they would do without due to their limited income and ability to get around.

Mission

To provide a hot nutritious meal to seniors that otherwise may not eat and have a social interaction, checking to ensure they are doing well.  Meals may make the difference for a senior to have the ability to stay in their home instead of going into a care facility.

Profile

Since 1970, the Meals On Wheels program has provided nutritious meals to homebound persons in Salina. At the present time, volunteers deliver 200-260 hot, nutritious lunches on weekdays to all Salina neighborhoods. Volunteers also deliver hundreds of frozen meals every month to Meals On Wheels customers for evening, weekend and holiday meals.
