Mission
The mission of Salina Grace is to share God’s love as we meet people in the middle of their brokenness and help them along a path to healing.
Salina Grace operationalizes this mission by mobilizing the community collaborative of social service agencies, law enforcement, substance addiction counselors, mental health providers, and judicial district agencies. By proactively reaching out to those on the margins of our society and seeking to help them improve their status, we are positively impacting the community one life at a time.
Profile
Since its founding in 2017, Salina Grace has grown and expanded its services to meet the needs of the Saline County continuum of care. Today, the organization impacts the lives of more than 500 unduplicated homeless individuals each year through the community resource center and low-barrier winter emergency shelter. Salina Grace is the only organization of its kind in North Central Kansas.
Salina Grace serves vulnerable men, women, and children that are currently homeless or at risk of homelessness. It is also the only shelter in the area serving individuals with ongoing substance use disorders and those who suffer from mental illness in addition to their substance use disorder.
Our low-barrier day shelter, which serves an average of 55 people daily, provides a place where homeless individuals that do not meet the requirements of other community shelters can get indoors and find comfort.
As a community-based and culturally sensitive hub of support and resources, Salina Grace provides wraparound programs and targeted services based on the individual needs of our guests. At the community resource center, our dedicated team of care managers work closely with the homeless population, building relationships, establishing trust, and setting goals. Oftentimes, shelter is the first step into the larger, local homeless services system and, hopefully, housing stability.
Specifically, in 2022 the Salina Grace Foundation:
- Served more than 550 individuals and families in need
- Provided 15,082 meals
- Made 440 agency referrals
- Helped 225 obtain their state and federal IDs
- Assisted 52 in qualifying for medical assistance
- Helped 93 families keep their homes through the KERA Program
- Assisted 228 in gaining employment
- Assisted 146 in applying for disability
- Provided winter emergency shelter to 120 individuals and families
