Specific Need
WE'RE THERE WHEN HELP CAN'T WAIT: No matter where our neighbors are in Salina or across Kansas., these families and individuals have one thing in common. They know where to turn in moments of great need. They know that—365 days a year—the Red Cross is ready to help.
Every day, the American Red Cross assists people facing emergencies, providing comfort and care to ensure no one faces a crisis alone. From more frequent and intense natural disasters to life-threatening blood shortages, to the increasing challenges faced by military families as international crises unfold, and to a shift in weather patterns that have impacted every aspect of our collective lives, the American Red Cross has never been more vital.

Profile
American Red Cross is the world’s largest humanitarian network and serves our mission through 5 Lines of Service
DISASTER: Every 8 minutes, the Red Cross responds to a disaster, and the vast majority are home and apartment fires. From small house fires to multi-state natural disasters, the American Red Cross goes wherever we’re needed. When faced with overwhelming loss, stricken families depend on the Red Cross working day and night to deliver shelter, food, relief items, financial assistance, critical health and emotional support services, and hope. We are making your community more resilient through our preparedness initiatives by offering free smoke alarms and youth preparedness programs for school-aged children.
LIFESAVING BLOOD: Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs lifesaving blood. Last year, the Kansas Red Cross collected over 103,000 units of lifesaving blood and supported over 100 Kansas hospitals, including Salina Regional Health Center. The W.H. and Helen M. Graves Blood Platelet Center in Salina serves as a collection center for blood and platelets.
SERVICES TO THE ARMED FORCES: Every day, the American Red Cross provides 24/7 global emergency communication services and other support in military and veteran health care facilities across the country and around the world, including Ft. Riley.
HEALTH AND SAFETY TRAINING AND EDUCATION: Your "Go-To" Source of Emergency and Safety Training for more than a century. Last year, over 28,000 Kansas neighbors received lifesaving training such as First Aid/CPR.
INTERNATIONAL SERVICES: By reconnecting families separated by crises, helping to rebuild communities devastated by disasters, or working alongside health organizations to eliminate global disease, the International Services of the Red Cross works every day to provide relief.
